Revisión integrada B2

B2 - Intermedio Alto · Unidad 5: Phrasals y habilidades

Past/Future perfect, narrative tenses Modals of deduction (must/might/can’t) Second/Third conditionals Passive & causative Word formation & collocations Phrasal verbs B2 (set up, carry out…)

Narrative tenses
(PS, PC, PP, PPC)
Contar historias combinando pasado simple, pasado continuo y past perfect para mostrar orden y duración. When I arrived, they had already started eating, so I sat down and joined them.
Modals of deduction
must / might / can’t
Hablar de probabilidad en presente o pasado.
Presente: must / might / can’t + base form
Pasado: must / might / can’t + have + past participle
He is not answering. He must be busy.
She looks tired. She might have been working all night.
Second conditional Situaciones hipotéticas en presente/futuro.
If + past simple, would + base form
If I had more time, I would travel more.
Third conditional Hipótesis irreales en el pasado.
If + had + past participle, would have + past participle
If she had studied harder, she would have passed the exam.
Causative: have/get something done
The report was written yesterday.
We had our car repaired last week.

Collocations make an effort, take responsibility, have a rest, pay attention,
break the rules, set a goal, reach an agreement
Son combinaciones “naturales” que usan los nativos.
Word formation happy → unhappy → happiness
possible → impossible → possibility
employ → employee → employer → employment
Prefijos (un-, im-, dis-) y sufijos (-ness, -ity, -ment…).
Phrasal verbs B2 set up (start a business)
carry out (do/conduct)
bring up (mention/raise a topic)
come up with (invent/think of an idea)
put off (postpone)
turn down (reject)
work out (find a solution / calculate)

4) Mini test mixto (uso integrado)

    a) When I arrived, they __________ (already / start) the meeting.
    b) If we __________ (have) more time, we __________ (be able to) visit more places.
    c) She looks very happy. She __________ (must / get) some good news.
    d) If he __________ (not forget) his keys, he __________ (not miss) the train.
    e) Our new website __________ (visit) by more than 10,000 people last month.
  2. Reescribe usando voz pasiva o causativa:
    a) Someone cleaned the office yesterday. → ____________________________
    b) A mechanic will repair my car tomorrow. → I will ____________________________
    c) They are painting the walls at the moment. → The walls ____________________________

B) Léxico: collocations, word formation, phrasals

  1. Elige la collocation correcta:
    a) We need to (make / do / take) a decision soon.
    b) Please (pay / give / take) attention to the instructions.
    c) The company wants to (do / set / make) up a new office in Europe.
    a) It’s very important to be __________ (RELY) when you work in a team.
    b) We were all surprised by the __________ (DECIDE) of the manager.
    c) The new law will reduce __________ (POLLUTE) in the city.
  3. Elige el phrasal verb correcto:

    b) They decided to __________ the meeting until next week. (work out / set up / put off)
    c) The company __________ a new branch in Madrid last year. (set up / bring up / carry out)

A) Mini-writing (100–120 palabras)

Intenta incluir:

  • Al menos un pasado perfecto y un modal de deducción (must/might/can’t).
  • Una frase en voz pasiva.
  • Al menos un conector: however, therefore, as a result, in addition…
  • Al menos un phrasal verb B2.

Last year our city set up a new bike-sharing system. At first, many people were sceptical. However, after they had seen how convenient it was, the bikes started to be used every day. As a result, traffic in the centre has been reduced, and more bike lanes have been created. You can see that people must be enjoying the change because there are hardly any bikes left in the stations in the morning.

Habla 1–2 minutos sobre: “The advantages and disadvantages of working from home”. Intenta:

  • Empezar con una frase introductoria: In my opinion,… / Personally, I believe…

A) Gramática
1) a) had already started · b) had / would be able to · c) must have got (también: must have received) · d) hadn’t forgotten / wouldn’t have missed · e) was visited

5) a) come up with · b) put off · c) set up
